Design Consultation

Whether you are greeted in our showroom or on a phone call, our team will guide the conversation to determine the scope of work and ideal budget range for your project. We aim for you to leave knowing more about KDC and have a scheduled in-home consultation on the calendar. The initial consultation lays the foundation for your project. We will review the scope of work you request as well as your home and the possibilities that it will allow. The initial visit also allows us to determine the ideal budget range and from this we will create a design proposal specifically for your project. The design proposal will outline the scope of work, expected cost for the project, and our fee for Design Development. This fee is credited back to you if you choose to move forward with us!

Phase 1

Creative Development & Design Review

Phase 2

Creative development can include everything from sketching design ideas, drawing computer-aided models, space planning, renderings, design presentation boards, and material selections. The design review is scheduled approximately 2 weeks after the initial visit. We will welcome you to our selection showroom to see the plans we’ve created and review the materials that we are suggesting for your project.. After reviewing the plans you will work closely with the Selections Specialist and Designer to finalize material selections. Any plan or material revisions that are required are determined during this phase.

Final Drawing & Selection Sign-Offs

Phase #3 is all about approvals. We request that all contracts, construction documents, details, materials, and fixtures be signed off on by you, our client, so that no one is left in the dark. This allows us to move on to Phase #4 without hesitation and keeps our projects running smoothly.

Phase 3

Production Review & Scheduling

Phase 4

This phase is one of the most important phases of the entire project. Phase #4 has a lot of moving parts between placing orders, determining shipping & delivery times and scheduling trades while working with multiple construction teams. This phase also includes receiving, unpacking, inspecting, and storage of all project materials. Timeframe for this stage is usually 6~ weeks. When you officially sign your contract our team goes to work compiling all of the necessary documents to build your project. This part of the process, production review, can take up to 3 weeks and when it is completed you will receive what we call a “Pre-Welcome Letter”. This alerts you and the team that your project has moved to the next part of this phase, ordering, tracking, and scheduling. Once your project is scheduled and all materials are ordered you will receive an official “Welcome Letter” that details the start date, end date, and Project Manager contact information. This portion of the phase could take up to another 3 weeks. Many of our clients get anxious at this stage because they are excited to get started (we are too!) but we have found that a well laid plan creates a solid and successful project.

Design Implementation & Management

Phase #5 is where all the hard work comes to life! Our designers will make regular visits to the site to oversee all aspects of the construction & finish of the project. You will have a dedicated project manager who will be onsite most days of the project to oversee our in-house Electrical + Audio/Visual teams and ensure great communication with our trusted trade partners. Our project managers are imperative to keeping our projects running smoothly and staying ahead of any potential issues.

Phase 5

Successful Completion & Client Satisfaction

The completion phase is the most important of all. At this phase the construction is complete, all the beautiful materials and fixtures are installed, and we are ready to hand the keys back to you! This is where the design is now real and you can enjoy and celebrate the incredible investment in your home! As we wrap up your project we will request a short survey to be completed. This survey is extremely beneficial to us as a team because it informs us on how we are doing. We are always striving to be the best resource for our clients and we can’t do it without you! In addition to our survey we welcome reviews on Google & Yelp as they help you to spread the word of a great experience!
